The YAESU FTA-450L is a competitively priced (COMM ONLY) version of the wildly successful FTA-550L and FTA-750L. Featuring the same Easy To Operate icon driven menu system, on a large 1.7" x 1.7" Full Dot Matrix Display. The same Loud 800mW internal audio speaker guarantees calls will not be missed. 8.33 kHz Narrow Band compatible, with a programmable 200 channel memory bank, means all favorite channels can be easily stored and retrieved with just a few button presses.

The FTA-750L has now been tested and complies with the Military Standard MIL-STD-810F. Similar to commercial Land Mobile radios, all current Yaesu Airband Transceivers have been tested for durability against Low temperatures, High temperatures, Shock, Vibration, Dust and Rain, ensuring many years of rugged use.

What is the main difference between YAESU FTA 450L VHF HANDHELD and YAESU VERTEX FTA 550 / 550L VHF HANDHELD, and YAESU VERTEX FTA 750L VHF HANDHELD?

The Yaesu FTA 450L is COM only. The Yaesu 550 and 550L are NAV / COMM units. The Yaesu 750L is NAV / COM / GPS. So the 550 adds NAV and the 750 adds NAV and GPS.

Is the Li-Ion rechargeable battery on the FTA 450L the same as the FTA-750?

Yes, the lithium batteries are the same in both units.

Is the battery remaining indicators always displayed on the FTA 450L?

The battery life level will always be displayed on the main screen of the FTA 450L.

On the FTA-450L, when using the headset adapter, does the Transmit button function? Is a PTT switch required?

A PTT can be used or the transmit button can be used. Either will work when using the headset adapter. Most customers prefer to add the PTT.

On the Yaesu 450L radio you do not show a PTT cable as and accessory. Is one available?

We have added the Push To Talk switched to the accessories carousel. Any of the generic PTTs will work once you have the Yaesu headset adapter. The most common PTT switches used are 11-12100, 13-05813, or 11-07712.

Does the FTA-450L provide a sidetone or not? A previous buyer stated he has to use an intercom modified to provide sidetone. Can I hear my voice thru the FTA-450L with headset adapter when transmitting, or must I use an intercom to provide this capability?

Per the installation manual there is a side tone control setup that will work when utilizing a headset.

Which charging cradle is compatible with the the FTA-450?

Per the owner's manual, you can use the SBH-11 which is 11-12833.
