Install in Minutes

Installation is as simple as replacing the aircraft position light.
Simply replace the aircraft position light, that’s it! No airframe modifications or additional antennas are required. Plus, it works with any Mode C or Mode S transponder. skyBeacon installation uses the existing mounting location, breaker and wiring, with 3 screws and 3 wires. The transponder data is provided via the existing aircraft wiring system using the power transcoder.

Is there a matching right side light to get the strobe and LED position lights?

No. Uavionix Skybeacon does not have a matching position light.

Must I have a Certified Avionics Shop install this on a certified aircraft or can an AI with experience and proper equipment do the install and file the paperwork?

Yes, this must be installed and signed off by an A&P.

How do I find out if my aircraft is on the TSO list for this UAvionix Skybeacon?

There is no specific aircraft that goes on a TSO. TSO units will require a 337 form, field approval.

Will this UAvionix Skybeacon work with a King KT76A?

Yes. The Sky Beacon Nav light will work with a KT76A.

Regarding UAVIONIX SKYBEACON NAV LIGHT STROBE CERTIFIED: I have a straight KT-76 will this work with my TXP, i do have mode C. Also, will the nav lights have to be powered on all the time?

Per the manufacturer, this will need to be powered on in order to fully function. This will also allow you to keep your KT 76 as the unit "sniffs" out your transponder signal.

On the features page, it states that the skybeacon picks up altitude data from the transponder data stream, but Ive read that one of the TSOs is for the altimeter. Does this unit have a built-in pressure altimeter?

Per the manufacturer, this unit works in conjuction with the altitude encoder and transponder for altitude readings.

Does this UAvionix Skybeacon Nav / Strobe Light ADS-B out unit qualify for FAA $500 rebate?

Yes, it does.

Sky Beacon title description says Nav Strobe light built in, but text only describes the red Nav light function. Is there a strobe light built into the unit?

Per the manufacturer, All skyBeacon products now ship with an LED strobe. Note: Early experimental versions of skyBeacon did not have the strobe installed.

Is the brightness of the UAvionix Skybeacon LED strobe as visible as a xeon strobe that it would be replacing?

The strobe light is extremely bright and follows the requirements for TSO-C96a

What is the warranty policy?

uAvionix products are warranted to be free from defects in material and workmanship for one year from the date of installation in the aircraft.

Will this Uavionix Skybeacon work with an older airplane wired with only nav lights and no strobes?

Yes this unit is designed to work with aircraft that may or may not have had strobes installed, as it has its own power supply.

Is this Uavionix Skybeacon approved for a Cessna 172k with only a 337 and does it need a field approval?

Yes, the 172K is on the approved model list, therefore it can be installed by an A&P and a logbook entry.

Will this Uavionix Skybeacon device work on my 24v system?

Yes, this device will work in a 24V system.

Am I right in assuming this Uavionix Skybeacon unit will work with a Narco AT 150 transponder?

Yes, this will work with the AT 150 transponder.

Is this SkyBeacon Approved for a Piper Warrior PA-28-161 Installed by an A&P AND ONLY a LOGBOOK Entry? NOT a 337 needed ?

Yes, this is approved for certified aircraft. An A&P can install this with a logbook entry.

Will this UAvionix Skybeacon ADS-B unit work without a transponder? I have nav lights but no transponder

No, a transponder must be installed in the aircraft in order for this unit to work.

Is the Uavionix Skybeacon approved for a Cessna 140? It has a mode-c transponder.

Yes, this is designed to work with Mode C transponders on certified aircraft. There is not STC list, so the unit will need to be installed and signed off by an A&P or FAA Approved install shop.

Will the Uavionix Skybeacon work with the KT 78 transponder?

Yes, the SkyBeacon is compatible with the KT 78 transponder.

What is the power draw for the Sky Beacon?

Power draw from the SkyBeacon is 3 Watts.

Regarding the Uavionix Skybeacon: Is there a way to power the ADS-B portion of the unit independent of the nav light portion, so we don't have to keep the nav lights on all the time?

No, the units are designed to comply with the FAR/AIM suggestion of navigation light use during all aircraft operations. You willneed to have the Nav lights on the entire time to keep the ADS-B functioning.

Are there future plans for a right side green light and strobe? If so Ill get the model now for the left wing that has a red light.

Yes, there are plans for a TSO ADS-B In receiver for the opposite side. This will have the green color and will provide ADS-B in. This will give you red light / ADS-B out on one side, and green light / ADS-B in on the other.

My wingtip position lights include a white light at the rear of the unit. Does the Skybeacon have a white light in addition to the strobe?

Since the SkyBeacon is mounted on the left wing of the aircraft, it will have a RED navigation light in the forward position, and a WHITE strobe in the aft portion of the unit.

Will a SkyBeacon installed with a SkySensor meet the anticollision light coverage requirements to replace wingtip strobe-only equipped aircraft? IE, removing the nav lights and Whelen wingtip only-strobes (no tail strobe): Will the uAvionix combination of left/right devices meet the anticollision light requirements?

The Skybeacon can only pair with the Skylight in a certified aircraft as the Skysensor is only for experimental aircraft. The Skybeacon and Skylight are certified to TSO-C96a which is for anti-collision lighting and TSO-C30c for position lighting .

Will the Uavionix Skybeacon work with a Narco AT150 TSO transponder?

Yes, it will work.

I have a Becker Mode C Transponder for my Experimental Helicopter and want to ensure this unit will interface. Can you please confirm? Thank you

Yes, the UAvionix Skybeacon is designed to work with both Mode C and Mode S transponders.

Is the Uavionix Skybeacon a certified ADS-B out solution for installation on Socata Tampico (TB9) by an A&P with a logbook entry?

Installation can be done on aircraft not listed under the AML / STC by an A&P with Inspection Authorization so long as the installation does not require airframe modification. This will require completion of form 337.

Does the Skybeacon need to have Line Of Sight to the transponder antenna?

This unit is only made to be mounted on the wing tip of the aircraft so it does not need line of sight of the transponder.

Will this Uavionix Skybeacon work in my beechcraft A36? I dont see it on the approved list but have heard it will.

Per Uavionix: Yes, this will work with the Beechcraft A36.

I just installed the skyBeacon on my 172, and want to know when you will come out with the right side green dummy light?

The light has already been released. Please see our Part# 11-17376.

Where do you find the ICAO code for your plane to complete the installation of the Uavionix Skybeacon?

The skyBeacon mobile application will automatically configure the ICAO address, emitter type, aircraft length, width and GPS offsets by accessing the aircraft registration information stored online. The ICAO codes for airports are usually the FAA location identifier prefixed with a K.

Will the Uavionix Skybeacon work for a p28 140 with a narco 50a transponder and what is the warranty on it?

Yes, the following Piper PA28 models are on the AML: PA-28-140, PA-28-150, PA-28-160, PA-28-180, A-28-235, PA-28S-160, PA-28S-180, PA-28R-180, PA-28R-200. If the Narco is a Mode C functioning transponder it will work. Warranty on Uavionix products is 2 year manufacturer warranty.

Is the Uavionix Skybeacon authorized for a Mexican registered Cessna 172? Will it be legal to cross the border?

No, skyBeacon transmits on UAT (978MHz). The UAT (978MHz) frequency is only approved for use in the United States below FL180 (18,000'). For international travel or flight above FL180, a 1090ES transponder is required.

I do not see the skyBeacon EXP listed. Do you sell it?

I have not seen the pa28-181 and also the pa28-161 on the approved model list, is the Uavionix Skybeacon ADS-B approved for these models?

Yes. Per the Manufacturer, PA28-181 and PA28-161 are approved aircraft.

Will the Uavionix Skybeacon work on the tail?

No, this unit is for wing tip installation. For tail installation, please see Part# 11-17246.
