Green Light: Because the human eye recognizes the color green faster than other colors, green light is best used for map reading or signaling, especially in low light conditions.

Red Light: Red light is primarily used to preserve night vision. Best used for low-light or nighttime situations, this low-signature red light provides great contrast making it easy to read charts and maps. Red light cuts through smoke better than white light, does not interfere with night vision technology, ensures stealth in the dark and cannot be easily seen by the human eye over long distances.
