A Trig transponder is the hub of an ADS-B Out system, using ‘extended squitter’ to communicate with ground stations and suitably equipped aircraft. It’s worth remembering; if you intend to use ADS-B In to access ADS-B ground services (TIS-B and FIS-B) then a compliant ADS-B Out must be installed. A Trig transponder is an ideal way to ensure your ADS-B Out is compliant.

Trig transponders use 1090ES technology - the ICAO ‘International Standard.’ A Trig system not only gives freedom to travel but it also has superior capabilities, 1090ES is required above 18,000 feet so it’s suitable for use in a wider range of aircraft types than UAT. Can I use the Trig TN70 ADS-B system with NARCO mode C transponders?

The Trig TN70 ADS-B system is designed to work with ADS-B capable Mode-S transponders.

Regarding the Trig TN70 ADS-B system: Can a combined VHF GPS antenna be utilized? I have limited space.

No it cannot, as the GPS antenna for the TN 70 is certifed with the system.

I have a garmin 327 transponder. Will I have to change my transponder?

Yes, the Trig TN-70 will only work with mode S transponders. We recommend the Trig TT21 (11-07999) to be used with the TN-70.

Is the Trig TN-70 compatible with the Bendix/King KT-76A Xponder?

As of 7/6/15, the TN-70 is only compatible with Trig transponders. Please see part number 11-07997 for the TT31.

Is the Trig TN-70 compatible with the Bendix-King KT74 Mode S Transponder which is made by Trig?

No, the software in the KT-74 is not made by Trig and is not compatible with the TN-70.

Does the Trig TN70 ADS-B system have a NMEA 2400 output to use as an EFIS position source?

It only has two RS-232 ports, we do not see any NMEA 2400 output in the manual.

What antenna is included with this system? Is an installation kit included?

A WAAS GPS antenna is included as well as a mating connector. The unit is flange mounted so no tray is required. You will need to supply the coax cable assembly between the receiver and antenna.

Does the TN70 ADS-B system come with pins to connect to the TT-22?

Yes, it does.

What is included in the custom harness for the Trig TN70?

It is a custom wiring harness for your specific installation. You specify which units you need interconnected and the distances and we prepare all the necessary wiring for you.

Will this work with a Garmin mode S transponder? GTX328 or GTX330?

The Trig TN70 ADS-B system is designed to work with Trig products, we have no data to support that this will work with Garmin transponders.

Can the TN-70 provide GPS data to the ARTEX 345 ELT?

Yes. The TN-70 can provide GPS data via RS-232.

If the TNS-70 is an approved GPS WAAS source for Trig transponders can it be used with a BendixKing KT 74 transponder?

At this time, the TN70 can only be used with Trig transponders.

Can this Trig TN-70 unit be used with a mode C transponder ( Terra Comm. TRT 250-D ) inst. in an older certified aircraft non electric AC, With a gear leg mounted wind driven alternator, Supporting an EarthX Lipo deep cycle battery? My 1946 Piper Cub J3C-85-8 has no electrical

No. This unit is designed to work with Mode-S transponders.

Does the TN70 coupled with the TT31 satisfy the 2020 ads-b mandate? In other words, no additional WAAS gps is required.

The TN 70 is the ADS-B in source in this equation. The mandate requires an approved mode S class 1 transponder with a built in extender squitter module. The TT31 or TT22 (not tn22) both meet those requirements perfectly. The mandate also requires that an approved WAAS GPS source be paired with the transponder (typically via a rs-232 data line). The TN70 meets the requirements for that. So, the TT31 with the TN70 would meet the mandate. I believe the customer meant WAAS GPS as in a GTN 650, or other high end IFR box.

I fly a small Experimental helicopter and never fly above 7,000 feet MSL. and live under a 30NM Mode C Vail. With a Trig TT21 installed would this system work with my existing transponder and meet my requirements for the 2020 ADS-B mandate?

You will need to use the tt22 for this setup to meet the requirements for ads-b.
