Per the supplier: From base of mount 6-1/2" and add another 1-1/2" for the harness plug on top.

Is this Plane Power Flysafe alternator FS1-14 FAA Approved?

No, this alternator is intended for use experimental aircraft.

You might want to note that this will only mount to a vacuum pad on Lyc or Cont engines. It will not mount to the unused accessory drive adapter pad.
