The A-800 friction lock control provides positive locking at any power setting by turning the chrome collet locking nut. Unique ball-socket construction permits 10-32 threaded end to swivel 8 degree in any direction. Casing has Teflon liner for low friction and heat resistance in high-temperature areas such as engine compartments. Travel: 3-3/8". The 1-1/4" dia. solid knob is available in black or blue (blue knob has smooth profile, not FAA style). 1/2" panel thread. Lengths are measured from under panel nut to end of threaded shaft with knob pushed in.

Are the knobs on these throttle controls removable? If so, what is the thread where it attaches?

A800 control knobs are threaded on with Loctite 262. It has 1/4-28 threads.

The largest diameter is approximately 3/8".

1/4" O.D. on the cable but the swaged on part is 3/8". Customer would need to drill a 3/8" hole and use a AN931 grommet.

The diameter for the hole would be 1/2".

The threaded section is .70".

Can the A800 threaded 10-32 rod be cut and shortened like the solid wire of the A820?

No, it is not recommended that these controls be cut.

This will have a 10-32 threads at the end of the cable.

Does the Vans A-800 have a bulkhead mount on the end of cable for attaching to a bracket mounted on the carb?

Yes the Vans version of the A-800 has a bulkhead mount. See Part# 05-01436 for Vans version.

I am confused. What is the difference between a Vans A-800 (eg. 05-08660) and a regular A800. I ordered a 05-08660 thinking I was getting a 5 cable with bulkhead connection on the end. Instead it looks like a standard A800 connection

The Vans cable (Part# 05-01436) has the threaded bulkhead a the engine end and you can order it in custom stroke lengths.

Does the A-800 cable have a swaged sleeve on the outside of the cable for firewall penetration? And if so, where? (Comparing it to the ACS A-810-12-1 picture which does show a swaged sleeve towards the mid section of the cable).

No, it does not. It can be special ordered with an unthreaded sleeve at the location you request. Just use the ACS Custom Controls web page and answer the questions to build your custom cable.

Is this A-800 control aluminum or steel?

Mostly aluminum, but some of the hardware is steel.
