Eligibilities

Shelf Life

The inspection and maintenance requirements for gauged fire extinguishers such as model C354TS, C352TS and A344T per NFPA 10 call for a 6-year maintenance and a 12-year hydrostatic test calculated from the month and year of manufacture. As long as the extinguisher undergoes the maintenance and passes the test it can remain in service.

H3R Aviation calculates the remaining shelf life of its gauged fire extinguishers by comparing the timing of the 6-year maintenance to the month and year of manufacture per the following formula.

(72 months - Months elapsed from manufacture date) / 72 months = Shelf life remaining

For example, if an extinguisher was manufactured in February of 2009 and the current month is June 2009, it has a remaining shelf life of 94%.

(72 months - 4 months) / 72 months = 94%

The A344T extinguisher does come with the bracket.

Do you know what the life time of the A344T extinguisher is in years?

Per the supplier: There is no defined timetable for this extinguisher as long as it is serviced properly and maintained.

Can the H3R Fire Extinguishers, spefically model A344T, be shipped with the manufacturer's certificate of conformance?

Yes, they can be shipped with manufacturer's certs but they must be requested at the time of order.

Is the A344T H3R extinguisher rechargeable?

Yes, these are rechargeable.

Is the a344t equivalent to a Halon extinguisher?

Is the hole pattern on the A344T bracket interchangeable with the RTA600 and RTA1200 brackets?

No. The hole patterns are not interchangable as they do not share the same hole pattern.

Does it matter if this fire extinguisher is mounted in a horizontal or inverted position, or must it be mounted upright and vertical?

It can be mounted in either orientation, but while in use it must be held in the vertical position.

Can the model A344T extinguisher bracket be purchased separately? Existing bracket broke, need new.

Yes, see Part# 13-06170 for the bracket.

How do I have the extinguisher refilled and serviced after its been used?

If an 8130 is required it would need to be refilled at an FAA repair station that offers that service. If an 8130 is not required a local fire service company should be able to fill it. Depending on the extinguisher it may be more cost effective to replace rather than refill.

Is this H3R A344T extinguisher a HAZMAT item and/or does it require any special shipping precautions?
