I was using this filter for years on a O-200. now we have two Rotax (one 912S and one 914 Turbo) on our planes. Rotax has a service buletin about such filters and theyr weakness on elevated temperatures. The mention a material (or quality) of PA6, witch is now forbidden in all aviation application (experimental, UL as well as certified).
- What kind of material is this filter made?
- What range of ambient temperature are ok?
The filter is made of polyethylene terephalate (E-85 Compatible) and sintered porous bronze. Thermal properties for the PET are: heat deflection @ 175* F, Melting point @ 490* F, applicable temp range for thermal expansion @ 50*-250* F, max serving temp for long term @ 230* F.
