How long (tall) is this antenna?

3-1/2 inches from the base of the antenna to the top.

What do you mean it can be used to remotely mount your portable? Can I put an antenna wire on this and remotely connect it to the GDL 39 so that I can put only the antenna on the dash and the GDL under the panel?

This is a replacement antenna for the GDL 39, but if you remove the antenna you can remote mount the GDL and simply have the antenna up on the top.
