Does this mount have a ball on it? I have a RAM yoke mount for my Garmin 696 that has a ball attached to the mount bracket. Do I use that and attach this cradle to that bracket or do I need to buy something else. Thanks.

No, this is the device holder only. It has a spot to attach part number 11-07069 (RAM ADAPTER 2-1/2" ROUND 1" BALL) which then connects to the arm (ie # 11-01255), then the arm attaches to the base (ie yoke mount # 11-00484). A full system consists of 4 parts. However, your 696 should have included the adapter (11-07069) along with the holder (11-08576) in the box. You can unscrew it from your 696 holder and use it with this iPad Mini holder.

Yes, this cradle or holder will include the required hardware to attach it to the round adapter.

This cannot be used with the MyGoFlight tempered glass screen protector as it is prone to shatter or chip.

No, this will not fit the Mini 4. You will need to order part # 11-14148 for the Mini 4.

What is the thickness? Can it be bolted straight to a panel?

Thickness is approx 3/4 of an inch. It is not intended to be bolted directly to the panel. For a panel install, we Part# 11-11460.
